Mats Hummels has suffered another ankle injury and will miss two more weeks, Borussia Dortmund announced on Wednesday.
Hummels only returned in Dortmund's 2-1 win at Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday after a layoff that had ruled him out since Germany’s friendly against England in mid-November.
The centre-back gave Dortmund’s defence some much needed stability and helped Juergen Klopp's team secure their first victory after a streak of four games without a win.
However, Hummels has now suffered another injury blow, and is set for a further two weeks on the sidelines after being injured in their 4-3 friendly win against Fortuna Duesseldorf on Tuesday.
Dortmund announced that Hummels suffered a compression and a ligament strain in his ankle, but added images which showed that his old injury has completely healed.
Hummels will miss the upcoming Bundesliga games at Bremen and against Frankfurt, and the midweek cup clash at Frankfurt in between, but could return for the trip to Hamburg -- just in time for the Champions League last-16 visit to Zenit St Petersburg a few days later.
