Shaun Wright-Phillips eyes MLS move

Shaun Wright-Phillips said he hopes to play in Major League Soccer before he retires and would be keen to team up with his brother, New York Red Bulls striker Bradley.

Wright-Phillips' current contract expires this summer.

Beckham nears MLS deal

The 32-year-old former England international, who won 36 caps for his country and played in the 2010 World Cup, is in the final season of a three-year deal at Queens Park Rangers.

And the winger, who won the Premier League title with Chelsea and has had two spells at Manchester City, is eager to experience football in the United States.

Wright-Phillips told City’s official matchday programme: "I’d definitely love to go to the MLS at some point and it’d be great to play alongside my brother again before I hang up my boots."

Bradley Wright-Phillips, Shaun’s younger sibling, scored two goals in nine games after joining the Red Bulls in July.

He also began his career at City before going to play for Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton Athletic and Brentford.

"Bradley’s doing really well and he has just returned for New York for preseason training, Shaun Wright-Phillips added. "Since he’s joined Red Bulls, that’s another team I have to follow closely and keep in close contact with. Brad’s not had the rub of the green with his career so I’m happy to see things working out for him in the States."

Shaun Wright-Phillips, the adopted son of the former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright, has only made 12 appearances in an injury-hit season for QPR and has not started a game since September.
