Solskjaer: Wilfried Zaha deal done

The FC team reacts to Juan Mata's debut and the return of Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney

Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed his club will sign Wilfried Zaha on loan from Manchester United for the rest of the season, with Brazilian full-back Fabio also arriving from the Old Trafford club.

Solskjaer used his contacts at his former club to tie up deals for the duo who have struggled to force their way into the first team plans of United boss David Moyes this season, with the deals going through after his side’s 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Former Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones is also close to sealing a move to Cardiff, with Solskjaer convinced the trio can lift his side off the foot of the Premier League in the coming weeks.

“Hopefully we will get Wilf on loan signed from this place [Manchester United] and then we are looking good,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports. “He has got the little bit of urgency in the last third, pace and power.

“Fabio is done, that was done late yesterday. He is like his brother, an attacking full-back who will give us that extra pace and that Brazilian flair and enthusiasm. You see Brazilians play football and it is fantastic.

“Kenwyne will give us that pace and power as well and they will add something to what we already have here. We have a great set of players here and I’m really looking forward to the next month.”

Solskjaer is eying up a bumper month for his new Cardiff side as they look forward to games against relegation rivals Norwich, Swansea, Aston Villa and Hull in February, suggesting the moment has arrived for his players to rise to the challenge.

“I know my squad now,” he added. “You can see by the possession we had, the good football we played that there is a good bunch of players here, but we just need to be more threatening in behind and scoring goals.

“We have got a few home games in the next month and we have to start putting points on the board. We have got a great chance next month. Now we are in a different position so this month with the crowd behind us and three games against teams in that second league, it will be an important month.”
