Aaron Ramsey aggravates injury

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has suffered a setback as he bids to make a comeback from injury, manager Arsene Wenger has revealed.

Ramsey, 23, returned to full training on Monday after sustaining a thigh problem during the 3-1 win at West Ham on Dec. 26.

The Wales international was tipped to be involved in the 2-2 draw against Southampton on Tuesday, however, he was left out of the Gunners squad altogether.

And Wenger confirmed the news after the game that Ramsey will be sidelined for an extended period after aggravating the same injury.

"Unfortunately he had a setback in training," Wenger is quoted as saying by the Premier League. "Hopefully he's not out too long but he won't be available for Sunday's game [against Crystal Palace]."

It is a huge blow for Wenger who watched on at St Mary’s as his side produced a lacklustre display and dropped two Premier League points in the process. Manchester City can leapfrog Arsenal at the top of the table with victory against Tottenham on Wednesday.

Ramsey was in superb form for the first half of the season before picking up his injury, scoring 13 goals for the Gunners in all competitions.
