Freiburg down Leverkusen

Freiburg beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 with a late goal in the Bundesliga after twice coming from behind. Leverkusen scored after five minutes with their first chance as Lars Bender struck a low shot home.

Then, just before the half hour mark, Admir Mehmedi struck an equaliser beyond goalkeeper Bernd Leno but Simon Rolfes restored the advantage from a corner before the break. Freiburg were not to be outdone as Jonathan Schmid fired in a direct free kick for 2-2 and with minutes to go before the final whistle, Felix Klaus finished neatly to take home all three points.

Dortmund's poor form continued as they dropped to fourth in the table after a 2-2 draw with Augsburg in which summer signing Ji Dong-Won scored against his new team. Sven Bender netted on five minutes, but he diverted Andre Hahn's cross into his own net on 57 to level the scores.

Nuri Sahin then curled in a fine free kick ten minutes later to make it 2-1 but Ji, on loan at Augsburg from Sunderland and set to join Dortmund this summer, headed home an equaliser.

Nurnberg coach Gertjan Verbeek can reach for the razor after his side picked up their first win of the season in style, downing Hoffenheim 4-0 at the Frankenstadion.

The Dutch coach had vowed not to shave again until Nurnberg won a game, and his three-month wait was ended with Josip Drmic grabbing a brace and both Timothy Chandler and Daniel Ginczek on target for the Bavarians.

The win lifts Nurnberg to within two points of safety and puts pressure on Hoffenheim, who have now conceded more goals than anybody else in the Bundesliga this season.

Substitute Benedikt Saller scored a late winner as Mainz came from behind to edge out Stuttgart 2-1 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The home side went ahead after 11 minutes through Mohammed Abdellaoue, but Shinji Okazaki equalised against his former team in the 40th minute before Saller settled the contest three minutes from time.

Mainz are now unbeaten in four Bundesliga matches and knocking on the door of the European places.

Hannover started the new year with a victory under new coach Tayfun Korkut as Leonardo Bittencourt scored twice in the second half in a 3-1 win at Wolfsburg.

Hannover went ahead after 28 minutes through Artjoms Rudnevs, with Ivica Olic equalising at the 35 minute mark. But Bittencourt struck in the 50th and 72nd minutes to give Hannover the victory.

In the late game, Eintracht Frankfurt gained revenge for a 6-1 defeat to Hertha Berlin on the opening day of the season by beating the side from the capital 1-0 to move out of the bottom three, at least for a night.

An Alexander Meier goal 10 minutes before half-time was enough to earn the Eagles all three points and take them back above Freiburg thanks to their first home win of the Bundesliga season.

Hertha spent the first half chasing the game and when only improved slightly in the second half, but with the Bundesliga's top goalscorer Adrian Ramos drawing a blank, they were left clinging on to a sixth position they could lose on Sunday.
