Monaco must sell to buy Falcao cover

Monaco will have to juggle their cosmopolitan squad if they are to land either of their reported targets to replace injured striker Radamel Falcao.

The Principality club are considering bolstering their numbers after learning on Thursday that Falcao, 27, faces up to six months on the sidelines after damaging ligaments in his left knee during the Coupe de France win against Monts d'Or Azergues Foot earlier this week.

Juventus' Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic, who was coached by current Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri at Roma, and Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk are both reported by L'Equipe as potential additions.

The sports daily even claims talks have begun between the Ligue 1 side and Zenit for the Brazil international, although the arrival of either player would pose a problem at the Stade Louis II.

The 2003-04 Champions League runners-up already have four non-EU players in their squad -- the maximum allowed under French Football League (LFP) regulations.

While Colombian duo Falcao and James Rodriguez are first-team regulars, Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero has played just 180 minutes of competitive football since arriving at Monaco last summer, and could be tempted to move elsewhere as he seeks to prepare for the World Cup.

However, L'Equipe claim full-back Fabinho is the more likely to depart with the Brazilian being tracked by Inter Milan.
