Joleon Lescott unsure over future

Joleon Lescott has said he wants to stay at Manchester City but admitted he is unsure if he will still be at the Etihad Stadium when the transfer window closes.

Brewin: Relentless City

The England international defender, who said in November he would have to consider a move to increase his chances of going to the World Cup, is a target for West Ham and has also been linked with Fulham.

But Lescott has started four of City’s last five games and after captaining them to victory in the second leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal tie against West Ham, he stated he would like to remain at the club.

He told Sky Sports after the 3-0 win over West Ham: "Hopefully I'll be at the final, but it's still ongoing and you never know."

City are yet to receive an offer for Lescott, who is out of contract in the summer and is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium when his current deal expires.

The 31-year-old, who became the third most expensive centre-back in the world when City paid Everton 22 million pounds for his services in 2009, lost his status as a first choice to Matija Nastasic last season.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said he does not want anyone to leave in the January transfer window and is keen to have two players for every position, meaning he would have to bring in another central defender if Lescott did leave.
