Stevan Jovetic in line for City return

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is weighing up whether to give Stevan Jovetic his first game for two-and-a-half months after revealing the striker could be fit enough to face West Ham on Tuesday.

Thorne: Wets Ham's poser
Mooney: Another record falls

Jovetic, 24, has not played for City since he went off injured in the 10th minute of the 2-0 Capital One Cup win over Newcastle on Oct. 30.

But the Montenegro international has returned to training and Pellegrini is considering selecting the Montenegro international for the Capital One Cup semifinal second leg against the Hammers.

City go into the game with a 6-0 advantage after the first match at the Etihad Stadium and the Chilean is expected to field a weakened team at Upton Park, which could include Jovetic.

“We will see how he works,” Pellegrini said after the 4-2 win over Cardiff on Saturday.

“We will decide [on Monday]. I will think about that. We have to play there. The semifinal is not finished.

“Of course we have made an important step but we must see which players will play and the way we will do it.”

Jovetic, who was a 25 million pound summer signing from Fiorentina, has only made three starts for City during his injury-hit spell at the Etihad.

His only goals for the club have come in the Capital One Cup, with a brace in September’s 5-0 thrashing of Wigan.
