Bremen and Juve hold further talks

Werder Bremen sporting director Thomas Eichin has travelled to Turin to continue discussions about a potential partnership between the Bundesliga club and Juventus.

Thomas Eichin is seeking a new path for Werder Bremen.
Thomas Eichin is hopeful of a future partnership with Juventus.

Bremen have been in talks over a possible link-up with the Italian champions since November 2013, and hope to intensify those negotiations during Eichin’s trip.

During the first half of the Bundesliga season the German side have conceded 37 goals in just 17 games, and could be looking at potential reinforcements to bolster their shaky defence during January.

However, Eichin played down talk that his trip to Italy has anything to do with new signings this month.

“This trip is rather about summer business,” Eichin told Bild. “But maybe an opportunity for the winter comes along.”

In recent weeks, Bremen have been linked with defender Marco Motta, who has been struggling for game time at Juve this season.

And Eichin did not rule out the possibility that the right-back may end up at the club in the near future.

“It might be that we will also talk about Motta,” Eichin said.
