Napoli closing in on Capoue, Jorginho

Gab Marcotti reveals his best XI in Serie A

Napoli coach Rafael Benitez is expecting to be able to welcome two new arrivals into his squad in time for Sunday's Serie A trip to Bologna.

Speaking after his side came from behind to beat Atalanta 3-1 and set up a quarterfinal clash with Lazio in the Coppa Italia, the Spaniard revealed that negotiations with two new faces are at an advanced stage and deals should be completed come the weekend.

"I'm sure the president [Aurelio De Laurentiis] will do something this week," he said. "He's told me he will and I trust him."

Hellas Verona midfielder Jorginho is expected to be one newcomer, while Tottenham’s Etienne Capoue is set to curtail his stay in London after just six months, with France's Le Parisien reporting that Napoli's director of sport Riccardo Bigon has arrived in the English capital for talks.

Capoue, 25, has emerged as a candidate for the Partenopei after a move for Lyon's Maxime Gonalons broke down.

In the meantime, however, Benitez is happy to have welcomed Marek Hamsik back into his side after a one-month injury absence.

"He's our first new signing," Benitez told RAI television. "I started with Goran Pandev [against Atalanta] because I wanted to bring Marek on when they were a bit more tired.

"I'm not going to comment on any other names because I prefer only to talk about the players we've got, but I'm expecting more than one new signing from my president -- at least two."

Benitez has called for his side to be strengthened to sustain a challenge for the Scudetto.

Napoli trail Serie A leaders Juventus by 10 points at the midway stage of the season, yet Benitez has not given up hope of closing that gap.

"I'm thinking from game to game," he said. "If we win all of our games, then we can see what the others do. By winning game after game, we can aim to win every competition, but every game, also in the Europa League, is going to be difficult."
