Cole, 30, first joined the Hammers in 2006 before being released last summer.

He rejoined the club in October during an injury crisis that left Sam Allardyce without a fit first-team striker and notched four goals in 11 games, taking his tally to 63 goals in 251 games.

The forward, who has played seven times for England, initially penned  a short-term deal, but has now been rewarded with fresh terms for 18 months after displaying his scoring touch over the past few months.

A favourite among Hammers fans, Cole scored began his West Ham career by scoring a debut goal with his first touch in a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic in 2006.
