PSV sign Bryan Ruiz from Fulham
Bryan Ruiz has joined Dutch side PSV Eindhoven from Fulham on loan until the end of the season.
Ruiz, 28, signed for the Cottagers from FC Twente in January 2011. An Eredivisie winner under Steve McClaren, Ruiz struggled to recapture that form while at Craven Cottage and has subsequently been allowed to return to the Netherlands until the end of the season.
Speaking to PSV’s official website, Ruiz said: "I 'm going to do my best for PSV. I remember every game against PSV was an exciting fight. Now I'm in the other locker room and I give everything for PSV.
“I have fond memories of my time at FC Twente, but I am a professional and I give 100 percent for PSV to achieve what we want to achieve. When the opportunity arose, I was interested. I 'm really looking forward to coming to train.
“It's true that I did not have much time lately at Fulham, so I see this as a great opportunity for me. I want to get my confidence back, helping PSV to finish as high as possible and prepare for the World Cup is the target. I am very motivated to play for PSV."
Meanwhile PSV's director of football Marcel Brands has revealed the club had first attempted to sign Ruiz during the summer, as well as confirming there is no purchase option at present.
"I've been there working on it since last summer, when it failed," Brands told PSV TV. "This winter we have attempted again and it was still hard. He is a player with experience, he is also captain of the national team of Costa Rica and knows the Premier League .
“He has scoring ability and I think everyone would like to see such a player in the league. The contact that we have had in recent months and may have helped and held the deciding factor. PSV has no option to purchase his contract with Fulham."
