Klopp: Ibra's 'joke offer' a good sign

Zlatan Ibrahimovic reacts to winning the 2013 FIFA Puskás Award with the goal against England.

Juergen Klopp thinks Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s tongue-in-cheek offer to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer is a great compliment to his club.

Footage of the conversation between the Paris Saint-Germain striker and the Dortmund boss at Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony in Zurich became a viral hit, with more than 1.2 million views on YouTube within two days.

Ibrahimovic, contracted to the French champions until 2016, also spoke in glowing terms about Klopp’s work at Dortmund, who have been struggling domestically but continue to shine in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund will soon lose star striker Robert Lewandowski to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and the exchange between Klopp and Ibrahimovic sparked hope that the forward might move to Germany to continue his rivalry with his former boss at Barcelona.

"Zlatan was certainly not serious," Klopp told Die Welt on Tuesday. "But the appreciation for our work, which was also in there, is 100 percent sincere. And I find that cool."

The current Dortmund era was brought to international attention by their run to the 2013 Champions League final, and Klopp believes his side’s style of football has worked wonders for Borussia's standing in the game.

"If something got around in football that we have a good relationship between coaching staff and team, that's true," Klopp said, and added that all over the world there are players who "want to be part of  it."
