Melbourne Heart equal winless record

Shane Smeltz celebrates his second goal of the game.

Melbourne Heart extended their winless run to an A-League record-equalling 19th game after falling to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Perth Glory.

A second-half brace from substitute Shane Smeltz confirmed the result for Glory after Adrian Zahra had earlier opened the scoring.

The result moves Glory up to fifth in the table, while Heart's run without a win matches the record set by the now-defunct New Zealand Knights between 2005 and 2006.

Elsewhere, Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory had to settle for a point each following a 1-1 draw.

A Mitch Nichols own goal edged the Jets ahead in the first half, before Andrew Nabbout saved his teammate’s blushes with an equaliser shortly after the break.
