Lewandowski signs 5-year Bayern deal

Robert Lewandowski has signed a five-year deal with European champions Bayern Munich, the club have confirmed.

• Uersfeld: End of an era for Dortmund
Schaaf: Bayern's best year

Lewandowski, 25, is out of contract at the end of June with Borussia Dortmund choosing to keep the player and lose him for free at the end of his deal rather than sell him to Bayern last summer. The player stated last month he was on the verge of announcing which club he had opted to join.

The Poland international and his representatives were pictured in newspaper Abendzeitung arriving at the practice of Bayern's club doctor, Dr Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, on Saturday morning.

The five-year deal, which would keep the striker at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2019, is said to be worth 11 million euros a year.

Lewandowski flew into Munich from Warsaw, where he was enjoying the Bundesliga's winter break -- the Dortmund squad is due to meet up again on Sunday to resume training.

The loss of Lewandowski will come as a major blow at the Westfalenstadion, even if it was one of the worst kept secrets in football. After losing Mario Goetze to their rivals at the end of last season, Dortmund have struggled this term and sit fourth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Bayern and only two in front of Wolfsburg in the final Champions League qualification place. Juergen Klopp's side have won only one of their last six games in the league.

The deal has led to speculation over the future of Mario Mandzukic, Bayern's top scorer with 10 Bundesliga goals -- but the Croatian striker's agent has insisted the player is happy to stay at the club and does not fear Lewi's arrival.

The 25-year-old has helped Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and the 2012 DFB-Pokal since signing from Lech Poznan in 2010, and has 11 Bundesliga goals to his name this season.
