Lloris challenge rules out Young

Ashley Young will miss Manchester United’s FA Cup tie against Swansea on Sunday and could be set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a shoulder injury in the New Year’s Day defeat to Tottenham.

• Payne: January window ins and out at United

The winger was hurt in a challenge with Hugo Lloris that United manager David Moyes felt should have brought a penalty and a red card for the Tottenham goalkeeper.

And Moyes, who called referee Howard Webb’s decision to award neither “scandalous,” confirmed the England international is the latest addition to United’s lengthy injury list.

He said: “We’ve got a few injuries and one is [as a result of] the challenge the keeper made on Ashley Young.

"It's a shoulder injury and we’re not sure exactly how long he’s going to be out yet. We’ve got some other injuries as well that we’ll just need to look at and see how they are over the next few days."

United are also likely to be without striker Robin van Persie, who has missed the last six games with a thigh problem. Moyes added: “Robin’s coming on but we’ll let you know when he’s ready."

The versatile Phil Jones, midfielder Marouane Fellaini and winger Nani remain unavailable but right-back Rafael da Silva, who has missed the last two games, is back in training, a source told ESPN.
