Ozil was not part of the Arsenal squad that travelled to Newcastle United on Sunday, with the club announcing on Twitter that he had a “slight shoulder problem.”
Ahead of the match, Wenger told Sky Sports: "I would have loved Mesut Ozil [to be] here, but he fell on his shoulder and he will be out for two to three games."
Following the game, which Arsenal won 1-0, Wenger added: "It is an inflamed shoulder. It should be maybe one more week, maybe less, I don't know, but not a long time."
Arsenal host Cardiff City in the Premier League on New Year’s Day before taking on arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at home in the FA Cup on Jan. 4, but they then have a lengthy break before travelling to Aston Villa on Jan. 13.
