Wenger: Ozil will be rested

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil will be rested, but the Arsenal manager says it will not come at the beginning of the busy festive schedule.

Mesut Ozil has impressed since arriving in England.

The club's 42.5 million pound record signing kicked off his Arsenal career in style, inspiring his new side to the top of the Premier League. However, in recent weeks Ozil has struggled with his form, leaving Wenger with the decision to give him a rest.

- Cross: Time to step up
- Mangan: A welcome return
- Delaney: History boys

But the break will not come just as Arsenal prepare for their next run of games, starting with Chelsea at the Emirates on Monday night.

"In Germany, they have a break and we had this same situation with Jens Lehmann in his first season here," Wenger said. "We have to give Mesut a break -- but not tomorrow night.

"He has played a lot. But we have had a little break since we played last Saturday at Manchester City and, hopefully, he has recovered."

Meanwhile Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes it will be ''impossible'' for his side to keep Ozil quiet for the entirety of the game.

Ozil's seamless arrival in Englandfrom Real Madrid, where he played under Mourinho, has ''completed the puzzle'' for Wenger's Arsenal, the Portuguese believes, firmly establishing the Gunners as title contenders.

''He arrived, Arsene gave him the shirt, immediately he starts playing and immediately the team becomes better, '' he said. ''He's a phenomenal player. He's one of those players that you buy and you complete the puzzle of your team.''

It was Mourinho who signed Ozil for Real -- from Werder Bremen after impressing at the 2010 World Cup -- and the Chelsea boss suggested the Germany forward has no faults in his game.

''I know his strong points. Not the weaknesses. I think I know how to try to stop him to be in the game (for) 90 minutes, with 90 minutes of direct influence, '' he said. ''But it's impossible to stop him for 90 minutes, because these kinds of players they will have always a moment or a couple of moments where you cannot stop them and they end up showing why they are so good. To stop him completely, I don't believe we can.''
