Tan tells Mackay to resign - report

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has allegedly been sent an email by the club's owner, Vincent Tan, asking him to resign or he will be sacked, reports the BBC.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan's running of the club has allegedly led to manager Malky Mackay considering his position.
Vincent Tan and Malkay Mackay seemed to strong team after winning promotion last season.

Morris: Mackay holds aces

In the email, which is being reported as sent to the Bluebirds' manager on Monday evening, Tan criticised 41-year-old Mackay on a range of subjects, from signings, managing transfer budgets, results and the team's playing style.

The Malaysian billionaire also questioned the Scot's record as a manager.

The relationship between Tan and Mackay hit its lowest point on Saturday when, in a statement released through CEO Simon Lim, Tan was said to be "extremely upset" after Mackay had told the press he hoped to buy new players in the January transfer window. Mackay later insisted he would be going nowhere.

The club broke their transfer record three times in the summer, signing striker Andreas Cornelius for 7.5 million pounds, defender Steven Caulker for eight million pounds and then midfielder Gary Medel for 11 million pounds.

The overspending, Tan revealed in the statement, was the reason behind head of recruitment Iain Moody being sacked in October.
