Missed chances haunting Mourinho

The lads look ahead to Arsenal vs Chelsea. John Terry celebrates his 75th Christmas and Ian Fiveankles creates a terrifying fire.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is starting to feel the pressure of missed chances as his side continues to stutter.

Jose Mourinho has no intention of bringing in a new striker or recalling Romelu Lukaku in January.
Jose Mourinho has not found life easy on his second coming at Chelsea this season.

Worrall: Go defensive?

Tuesday's Capital One Cup exit to Sunderland was again marked by spurned opportunities, most notably by Samuael Eto'o, as the Blues threw away their one-goal lead at the end of normal time before letting in another just before the tie was about to go to spotkicks.

"Missing goals. It's always the same words," Mourinho told Chelsea TV. "It's unbelievable.

"Even on the bench, I feel every time we miss a chance and the score is 0-0, 1-0, 2-1, 1-1, I feel the pressure. I feel that missing the chances, maybe later you are punished. We have this problem.

"I only remember the Basel game as a game we lost where the opponent created more than us, played more than us, tried more than us and showed more quality than us, because we were poor against Basel. In every match we lost in England, in the Premier League and in the cup [at Sunderland], we were the best team by far.

"We create, we enjoy the ball, we were always very comfortable on the pitch, we had unbelievable chances to score to kill the game. We don't do it. Late goals are a consequence of a team that doesn't kill an opponent. If you score two, three goals the opponent is dead and the opponent has no reaction."
