Transfer Rater: Alexis Sanchez to Chelsea

De Bruyne close to decision on future

Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s agent is set to meet with Jose Mourinho to discuss a return to the Bundesliga, German magazine kicker has reported.

Lythell: Jose's coded message

De Bruyne, who spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, has been advised to seek regular football ahead of the World Cup by Belgium boss Marc Wilmots after struggling for first-team opportunities under Mourinho.

It is believed he favours a return to Germany, and agent Patrick De Koster has said the 21-year-old has attracted interest from a host of Bundesliga sides, suggesting Bayer Leverkusen are at the head of the queue.

According to kicker, De Bruyne is now set to make a straight choice between Leverkusen and Wolfsburg, with both clubs said to be willing to pay the asking price -- between 15 and 20 million euros -- for the Belgium international. The report claims neither the clubs nor the player are considering a loan.

The magazine reports that Bayer officials met with De Koster for negotiations on Monday and that he could be brought in as a replacement for Germany international Sidney Sam, who has been heavily linked with a move to Schalke at the end of the season.

However, Leverkusen press officer Dirk Mesch told dpa: “Of course Bayer are interested in that player, but to speak of negotiations would be going too far.”

Sami Hyypia’s Leverkusen are currently second in the Bundesliga and have qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, while Wolfsburg are now fifth in the table and are enjoying an eight-game unbeaten run.
