AC Milan announce Honda signing

AC Milan have confirmed Japan international Keisuke Honda will join the club on a free transfer from CSKA Moscow next month.

Keisuke Honda had been keen to join Milan in the summer.
Keisuke Honda had been keen to join Milan in the summer.

Honda, who joined CSKA from Dutch side VVV-Venlo in 2010, will move to the San Siro when his contract expires at the end of this month.

“Now we can say it,” Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told Sky Sport Italia. “From Jan. 3, 2014, Keisuke Honda will be a Milan player. He will wear the No. 10 shirt.”

Galliani suggested Honda was likely to make his debut against Sassuolo on Jan. 12.

Milan had attempted to sign Honda during the summer but were unable to agree a transfer fee with CSKA.

The 27-year-old becomes the Rossoneri’s first signing of the winter transfer window as they seek to improve on a disappointing start to the season that has seen them fall 22 points behind Serie A leaders Juventus.
