Bale and Ribery on World XI shortlist

Gareth Bale and Franck Ribery have been named on a 15-man shortlist as part of the process to decide the 2013 FIFA FIFPro World XI.

Gareth Bale put Real Madrid 2-1 at Juventus but it would not be enough to earn the points.
Bale has made an impressive start to life at Madrid.

Bayern defenders on shortlist

On Wednesday, a 20-man shortlist was revealed to make up the back four of the star XI, which will be announced on Jan. 13, 2014, at FIFA's Ballon d'Or presentation in Zurich.

Those vying for the three midfield berths have now been unveiled, with Bale rewarded for his stunning season at Tottenham Hotspur which earned him a 100 million euro move to Real Madrid in the summer.

Bayern Munich's Ribery is also among the contenders, with the France international also in the hunt for the Ballon d'Or prize following his performances during his club's Treble-winning campaign.

Real Madrid's Isco, Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus and Juventus' Arturo Vidal debut on the list, while Barcelona's Xavi is looking to make the XI for a sixth year in a row.
