Ter Stegen close to deciding future

Borussia Moenchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has told Bild he will make a decision about his future in the next few days.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been strongly linked with a move to the Camp Nou for several months.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is a transfer target for Barcelona.

The Germany under-21 international has been linked with a switch to Barcelona throughout 2013 after confirmation that Victor Valdes will leave the Camp Nou on a free transfer next summer.

In November, Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu said that ter Stegen "is one of the few candidates" to replace Victor Valdes at the Camp Nou.

And this Tuesday, the sought-after Gladbach keeper announced in Bild that a decision over his future is imminent.

"In the next few days there will be a decision. Those responsible know what will happen," he said. "I have not said that I will leave the club. I will talk to [sporting director] Max Eberl and CEO Stephan Schippers about my contract and everything that will come shortly."

But when asked whether that means he is to stay at Gladbach, he replied: "I have also not said that."

Gladbach sporting director Eberl also confirmed he has not heard from ter Stegen yet, saying: "We don’t know right now what Marc will decide. But I regard him as someone, who immediately informs us once he has made his decision."
