France boosted by Koscielny availability

Mamadou Sakho reacts after he scored twice in France's 3-0 win at home to Ukraine in their World Cup play-off second leg. Les Bleus win 3-2 on aggregate and qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

FIFA has confirmed Laurent Koscielny will be available for selection for France's opening match of the 2014 World Cup campaign.

Koscielny received a red card in second-half injury time of France's World Cup playoff first leg, which they lost 2-0, after hitting Ukraine's Olexandr Kucher.

The Arsenal centre-back missed the second leg in Paris, which France won 3-0 to book their place at Brazil next year, although it was uncertain if he would be absent for further matches.

But FIFA has confirmed to AFP that Koscielny served his ban in the second leg, making him available for Les Bleus for the start of next summer's tournament.
