Dante: Bayern the greatest right now

Bayern Munich are the best team in Europe at the moment, according to centre-back Dante.

Schaaf: Bayern laboriously beat Braunschweig

The Treble winners have now gone 39 Bundesliga games without a defeat, have won their last 16 league games at the Allianz Arena and are the only team in the Champions League with a 100 percent record.

“This team has great character. Just take the [CSKA] Moscow game [a 3-1 win],” Dante told kicker about Bayern’s record run.

“Before that, we beat [Borussia] Dortmund 3-0 and then we headed for the onset of the winter in Russia. We were stuck in traffic jams, our training session was cancelled and right before the game the snow starts to fall.

“And in spite of all of that we say that we have to give it our all and take the three points. We always motivate ourselves and that is one of our great strengths.”

At the weekend, Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke told ZDF Sportstudio that, right now, Bayern are the best team in Europe.

And Dante said: “Looking at the group, the players, then you have to say he is right.

“But there are always more games, and you have to give it your all in order to access the full potential. There are certain nights you can’t make any predictions. Because if you want to beat teams like Barcelona or Real [Madrid] it always comes down to many things.”

Meanwhile, Bayern are hoping for a fitness boost ahead of the DFB-Pokal clash against Augsburg on Wednesday.

Philipp Lahm went jogging for the first time since his injury against CSKA on Sunday, while Claudio Pizarro, Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri all trained individually away from the rest of the team, with the latter two possible candidates for the squad for Wednesday’s game.
