No Wayne Rooney talks planned

Manchester United manager David Moyes is in no rush to offer a new contract to Wayne Rooney and is not concerned that the England international will soon be entering the final 18 months of his current deal.

Okwonga: Raucous draw at White Hart Lane
Brewin at White Hart Lane

Rooney, 28, will be out of contract in the summer of 2015 -- when he will be able to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer -- but Moyes is sure the forward’s future will be resolved before then.

However, the Red Devils boss, who fought hard to keep Rooney when Chelsea tried to lure him to Stamford Bridge in the summer, has no immediate plans to begin contract talks with the former Everton player.

“I don't really know,” Moyes said when asked when talks might start during his postmatch news conference after the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday.

“I think we're fine, we're just moving on from the summer. It'll get done in good course and the appropriate people will talk when the time's right.”

Rooney’s brace at White Hart Lane took his tally for the season to 10 goals for United, but the result leaves Moyes’ men nine points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

And the Scot believes United have no margin for error now, telling MUTV: “I think the way we are at the moment, we have to win all of our games.

“I feel we’ve dropped two points. In normal circumstances, coming to Spurs, and it’s been a tough game, you’d feel it was a good result.

“It was a tough game and we had to come from behind twice. Thankfully we did that, but we just couldn’t get the third goal.”
