Guardiola delighted at Bayern record

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola was pleased with his side's performance in tough conditions against Spartak Moscow on Wednesday as they claimed a tenth straight win in Europe.

Arjen Robben is congratulated by Toni Kroos after opening the scoring against CSKA Moscow.
Arjen Robben was on target as Bayern cruised.

Bayern maintained their perfect record in this season's Champions League with a 3-1 victory in Russia, courtesy of goals to Arjen Robben, Mario Goetze and Thomas Mueller.

Schaaf: Bayern eclipse Barca

Guardiola admitted he didn't expect such a result, with snow and an uneven pitch hampering the match.

"I'm proud of my team and I’m happy for the club. Winning ten games in a row is no easy feat in Europe," he said. "The pitch was in bad shape, it was dangerous and difficult. The team adjusted very well. The team showed character, and I'm very happy with their performance."

Goalscorer Robben played down Bayern's record, insisting winning the Champions League is still a much higher priority.

"It was a hard match and the pitch was in bad condition, but we’re pros and have to make the best of it," he said. "We won 3-1, which is very good. It’s an amazing achievement, winning ten games in a row in Europe, we can be proud of ourselves.

"But we aren't playing to break records, we’re playing to win titles. We are a superb team, and I am very proud to be part of it."
