John Anthony Brooks set for knee scan

U.S. international John Anthony Brooks is set for a MRI scan for ongoing knee problems, Hertha Berlin coach Jos Luhukay has said.

Scouting America: Brooks' potential

Brooks was a key member of the Hertha team that secured promotion to the Bundesliga last season but has struggled with injuries in recent months.

The Berlin-born centre-back has not played first-team football for Hertha since Sept. 22, when he damaged his arm in a 1-1 draw at Freiburg, and has featured only for the reserve team in the Regionalliga Nordost since then.

Knee trouble could now put an end to the 20-year-old’s hopes of returning to action for the senior side before the end of 2013, with Luhukay telling reporters: “We will probably do an MRI scan on Wednesday.”

Brooks made his debut for Jurgen Klinsmann’s U.S. national team against Bosnia-Herzegovina in August and earned his second cap during the recent 1-0 defeat to Austria.
