Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admitted the club has an anxious wait to find out the extent of the injury suffered by Samuel Eto’o.
Eto’o was replaced by Fernando Torres late in the first half after being stretchered off following an awkward fall in the 1-0 loss to Basel.
The Cameroon international appeared to have pulled a muscle but Mourinho said the club would have to wait before confirming the seriousness of the injury.
“Samuel has a muscular injury,” Mourinho told Chelsea’s official website. “We have to wait two days, we have to do scans. I don't know the dimension of it yet.”
However, the Blues boss believed the conditions in Switzerland may have played a part in the injury,
"We have to wait, he has an injury in the groin, but in this weather and hard pitches it is something that can happen," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
