Juventus beat Livorno to go top

Juventus moved top of the Serie A standings -- for 24 hours at least -- and extended their winning streak to five games on Sunday with a 2-0 triumph over Livorno.

Sat: Napoli lose to Parma

Second-half goals from Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez proved enough to clinch the points for the champions at the Stadio Armando Picchi.

The result lifted Antonio Conte's side two points clear of Roma, who play Cagliari on Monday night, and left the Amaranto 16th in the table.

Lazio defender Lorik Cana's late equaliser denied Sinisa Mihajlovic a winning start to his tenure as Sampdoria coach on Sunday.

The hosts looked to be heading for an important win after substitute Roberto Soriano had given Samp a 67th-minute lead only for Cana to rescue a 1-1 draw for the Romans deep in stoppage time.

Sampdoria played with 10 men from the 46th minute after Nenad Krsticic was shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Cristian Ledesma. But Lazio failed to make the most of their numerical superiority and in the end will have been relieved to take home a point.

The result halted a run of three straight defeats for Sampdoria, but was not sufficient to lift the Genoa outfit out of the relegation zone. Lazio remain winless on the road this season, and are eighth in the standings.

Udinese stifled the threat of Serie A's most prolific striker to take all the points points from Sampdoria's visit to Stadio Friuli.

Italy international Giuseppe Rossi has been in searing form this season, scoring 11 goals in 12 league games to lift Fiorentina to fifth, but he was barely given a sniff as Udinese earned a first clean sheet in six games in a 1-0 win.

Udinese's defensive steel meant Thomas Heurtaux's first-half goal was all that was required to secure a first win in three, while defeat for La Viola snapped a run of three straight wins in all competitions.

Torino halted an eight-match winless run in style with a 4-1 triumph over lowly Catania.

Goals from Ciro Immobile and Omar El Kaddouri gave the hosts a commanding 2-0 half time lead at the Olympic stadium in Turin. Substitute Sebastian Leto pulled a goal back shortly after the restart, but Emiliano Moretti swiftly restored Torino's two-goal cushion before El Kaddouri sealed matters on the hour mark.

The result, Torino's second triumph at home this season, lifted the Granata to 12th place while it dropped Catania into the foot of the standings, level on nine points with Chievo.

Sassuolo clinched their third win of the season with a hard-fought 2-0 triumph over Atalanta.

Simone Zaza put the hosts on their way in the 63rd minute before Domenico Berardi made it two soon after.

The result was impressive considering Sassuolo, who have the worst defensive record in Serie A, kept a clean sheet despite playing down to 10 men from the 76th minute after defender Luca Antei was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The win has lifted Sassuolo to 15th position, three points clear of the relegation zone, while Atalanta have dropped to 10th place.
