Kevin Constant humbled by nomination

AC Milan's Kevin Constant says it is "satisfying" to be on the 25-man shortlist for this year's African Player of the Year award, but he would trade his place for three points against Genoa on Saturday.

Kevin Constant has moved to AC Milan permanently.
Kevin Constant is eager to succeed at club level.

While expressing his honour to be recognised as one of Africa's footballers in 2013, Constant made no secret of his biggest desire, which is to return to winning ways with Milan at the weekend.

"It's very satisfying [to be shortlisted] and it's recognition of the work I'm doing," he told Milan Channel. "I've worked hard for this nomination. This year did not start off very well, but I need to bounce back immediately because there are some big games coming up."

Not least Saturday night at the San Siro against Constant's former club.

"For games like these, there really are very few things to say -- we want the three points," Constant continued. "That's all that matters right now. It doesn't matter if we play well or badly, we need the points."

The Guinean was not in action for his country this week but was instead involved in a 3-1 friendly victory over Young Boys which also saw flashes of brilliance from Kaka, and the whole of the Milan team.

"That was the right attitude and the win over the Swiss has given us a lot of belief," Constant said. "To score three goals is a good sign for the games we've got coming up."
