Prandelli joy over Rossi and Balotelli link

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli was pleased with the performances of strikers Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Balotelli as they linked up well in the 2-2 draw with Nigeria on Monday night.

Italy and Nigeria played out a 2-2 draw.
Italy were held at Fulham's ground on Monday night.

Prandelli has earmarked the duo to be his first-choice attack at the 2014 World Cup next summer and he was encouraged with the duo’s efforts at Craven Cottage with Rossi netting in the 12th minute.

"I was delighted with them, they harmonised immediately," Prandelli said afterwards. "In addition to the goal, they combined very well numerous times."

According to Fiorentina and Serie A top goalscorer Rossi, playing alongside Balotelli is child's play.

"We're both good lads and we like each other a lot, and together with this whole squad, we form a great group," Rossi told Gazzetta. "Mario gave me a great ball for the goal and he created numerous other chances and played a great game. I'm delighted for him and if he keeps playing this way, then a goal will arrive."

Without getting on the scoresheet, though, Balotelli struggled to enjoy his evening, leaving the field immediately at the final whistle, apparently frustrated at having a chance taken away from him by teammate Marco Parolo.

"I was a bit unlucky with Balotelli," said the Parma midfielder. "I didn't know he was behind me, but we've had a laugh about it. I'm sorry for Mario because he was better placed than me, but I was so desperate to score and this made me miss."
