The younger Ribery, 19, joins the 17-year-old Lucas Scholl, the son of former Bayern and Germany midfielder Mehmet Scholl, at the club.

"It’s true. He is training with us," Michael Tarnat, the head of Bayern Youth Academy, told Abendzeitung Munich.

In a recent interview with L’Equipe, Franck said that his brother had already trained with the Bayern youth team in August.

"He's trained harder than ever, he has trained twice a day and he's lost 10 or 12 pounds," the Ballon d'Or candidate said of his teenaged sibling.

Steven Ribery had played for Lens’ U17 team, before quitting football following a stint with Stade Porelois. But his older brother convinced him to hold out hope and continue to pursue a professional career.

"I want him to be successful," Franck Ribery said. "It will show on which level. But he has got quality."
