Jeremy Menez set for PSG exit

Jeremy Menez could leave Paris Saint-Germain in January with the French champions reticent to give the controversial midfielder a new deal.

• Johnson: Matuidi concern

Menez, 26, has made only six league appearances, including three starts, for PSG this season after being edged to the fringes of Laurent Blanc's squad.

Though a back injury meant a late start to his campaign, the former Roma midfielder has clearly fallen behind Javier Pastore in Blanc's plans, and has consequently lost his place in the France squad.

Negotiations between PSG CEO Jean-Claude Blanc and Menez's agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, are planned in the near future, according to Le Parisien, but it seems unlikely the attacking midfielder will be offered a contract extension.

"It's too late for him. The player is now in a strong position," Blanc said before last weekend's league victory over Nice, a game which Menez again started on the bench. "There's nothing stopping him continuing with Paris, but it seems to me that would be difficult."

The ex-Sochaux and Monaco player enjoys an excellent reputation in Italy following his three-year spell at Roma. Juventus, who reportedly already approached Menez in both 2011 and the following year, lead the chase, though Serie A rivals Napoli and AC Milan are also monitoring the situation.
