Samuel Eto'o hails Jose Mourinho

Samuel Eto'o has said it is Jose Mourinho that deserves credit for yet another goal in which the forward "pickpocketed" a goalkeeper, as the Cameroonian stated that he is "comfortable" and "happy" at Chelsea.

• Brewin: Blues see off Schalke

Eto'o scored the first two goals in the 3-0 Champions League win over Schalke at Stamford Bridge, with the manner of them seemingly reflecting that the attacker is finally finding his old sharpness.

For the opening goal, after Chelsea had been under some pressure, Eto'o opportunistically charged down Schalke goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand's attempted punt forward and saw the ball deflect directly into the net. With the second, he supremely finished a flowing move after a pass from his former Anzhi Makhachkala team-mate, Willian.

The first goal followed a similar effort against Cardiff City, in which Eto'o exploited David Marshall's laxness. The forward stated that it was because of Mourinho's encouragement and instructions from the line that he charged down Hildebrand.

"I never plan it because you don't know how a game is going to go but it's the second time I've picked the pocket of a keeper and it counts. It's good.

"I think credit has to go to the manager, because he didn't stop shouting at me from the line, to put the keeper under pressure. I didn't think to go but, because he shouted so much, I started to get closer... and in a moment I could get to the ball so I accelerated."

Eto'o also credited Willian for the "fine pass" that put him in for the second, and said a positive attitude has got him to the point where he can display his best form.

"I've always felt comfortable but in football there are lows. I'm the same player I've always been. There are things that happen in football, you always have to think in a positive manner and, yesterday, I was happy and I'm happy today - I'm always the same. Always happy."

Meanwhile, Eto'o revealed that he still follows Barcelona, as he praised the excellence of former teammate Leo Messi.

"I follow Barca more than others, what did they do tonight?" Eto'o asked one Spanish journalist. The Catalan side beat Milan 3-1, with Messi scoring twice.

"Incredible, he's incredible that lad, so good," Eto'o said. "We need to invent a new word for him."
