Walker backs Soldado to find form

Kyle Walker believes it is only a matter of time before Roberto Soldado starts scoring from open play for Tottenham.

Roberto Soldado struggled for clear-cut chances against Everton.
Soldado has struggled to score from opening play this season.

The Spain international has four league goals since joining Spurs for 26 million pounds in the summer but three of them have come from the penalty spot.

And right-back Walker feels Soldado has been unlucky and expects the 28-year-old, who scored 30 times for Valencia last season, to become more prolific.

He said: "It's not probably falling the way he would like. He is scoring from the penalty spot [against Hull]. It's goals but it's probably not what he wants goals to be like but he works hard in training and I feel his performances on the field are going to bring goals.

"In training he is on fire, but it's not falling for him in the games. It will definitely come, though. He's a fantastic player, a Spanish international and the goals will come."

Tottenham drew 0-0 at Everton on Sunday, which Walker described as a "fantastic" point, but Andre Villas-Boas' team have only scored nine goals in their first ten league games.

England international Walker insists he is not concerned about their struggle to score.

"I believe fully in every striker we've got at the club -- [Emmanuel] Adebayor, [Jermain] Defoe, Harry Kane even, he proved when he came on the other night [against Hull in the Capital One Cup] and scored a goal. It just takes time," he added.

"The goals are going to come, most definitely. It's just about being patient and if we keep clean sheets, we can't get beaten, so the worst it's going to be is a draw."

Walker said the Tottenham team will welcome Adebayor back into the team if Villas-Boas decides to select the Togolese striker, who has not played a competitive game yet this season.

The Portuguese boss insists Adebayor is still in his plans and Walker said: "He is a fantastic player. He trains really hard. It's not up to me to decide whether he plays or not. That's a decision for the manager.

"But we're fully behind him and the manager so whatever team he picks, I'm sure he'll do well. You don't play for Arsenal, Manchester City and then Real Madrid if you're not a decent player."
