Loic Remy to decide on future in July

Loic Remy has revealed that a decision over his Newcastle future will not be made until July.

Duffy: Newcastle halt the Chelsea Express

Remy, 26, joined the Magpies on loan from Queens Park Rangers in the summer, but is due back at the Championship club at the end of the season.

The France international has started the campaign in fine form -- netting his sixth goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over Chelsea -- leading to further speculation as to where he will be playing his football next term.

“For the moment, things are very good," he told the Journal. "To be honest, I feel very good here, but now I am only on loan and this is a question that we have to speak about with the owner and everybody in July, I think.

“It is a loan and so many things depend on QPR, it depends on Newcastle, it depends on me. There are so many things. I will not think about it until the summer and so I am just going to try and score goals and get us up the league and then we will see what happens.

“It is a good thing that the fans react well to me. Even after last January when I went to QPR instead of here. They have stayed behind me, so that is why each game I try to do more and more for the team, to say thank you to them. I am happy here. It’s important that I have a good relationship with them.”

The former Marseille player added that he had heard plenty about the St James' Park crowd prior to his arrival, while he also confirmed his desire to break his season-best goal record of 16.

"Before I came here I heard about the fans, the atmosphere, but I didn't really understand until I felt it on the pitch," Remy told Sky Sports. "When you get a big win like this -- wow! I play football to have these kinds of moments. It is an amazing feeling.

“In terms of goals, my record season was 16 when I was at Marseille, so if I can do better that would be great. My focus is also about the team. Alone, I can do nothing.

“When I was at QPR, I was only there for six months and I scored six goals. I'm confident at the moment. The gaffer said at half-time, 'Come on, you can do better. I know your level, you need to up your level a little bit', and that's what I did."
