Moyes unworried by Fergie revelations

David Moyes said he is not worried by the revelations in Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography and said he looks forward to reading it.

Ferguson's final match in charge of United was his 1,500th
Sir Alex Ferguson is confident in David Moyes' ability to succeed at Man United.

Jolly: Fergie shadow still looms
•  Fergie rejected England twice
'Ozil wasn't on radar'
'Beckham got too big'
'Rooney has fitness issues'
'Rafa made rivalry personal'

The Manchester United manager said he had not received an advance copy of the book and was relaxed about the prospect of his predecessor making headlines.

And Moyes believes that Ferguson, who was United manager for 26 years before retiring in the summer, has earned the right to say what he likes.

He said: "Alex Ferguson can do what he wishes. He is his own man. Certainly everyone at Old Trafford will love to hear what he can say, certainly the supporters will.

"He is someone with great knowledge so I’m sure everyone will enjoy reading it. I’m sure when the time arises I will. I’ve not got much time in this job, that’s for sure."

Moyes also said he was unconcerned about the impact Ferguson’s criticisms of Wayne Rooney would have on the striker.

Rooney wanted to leave United in the summer after falling out with Ferguson but Moyes has repaired relations with the centre-forward, who has been in fine form this season.

Moyes added: "I think Wayne is completely focused on his football. He has been since the first day of preseason. He is in good form, looking after himself and playing well."

Meanwhile, at a news conference to launch his book, Ferguson backed Moyes to get it right at United, and says he will get all the support he needs.

"Obviously this press conference has come at a bad time, otherwise I wouldn't have been asked that question," Ferguson said.

"When I joined Manchester United I was given great encouragement from Matt Busby, who was a fantastic help to me.

"I hope to help David Moyes in exactly the same way."

Ferguson added that he was sympathetic to Moyes after seeing that he had to face Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in his first five games at the club.

"When I saw that fixture list I would have been raging too," Ferguson said.

"It was a really difficult start to the season. But do you know something, Manchester United are the only club that can win the league from coming from behind.

"Once they get the ball rolling, everything will be fine."
