Ranieri backs Falcao to regain form

Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri says he is not concerned by the fact that Radamel Falcao has gone three league matches without scoring.

The Colombian striker, 27, is the top scorer in Ligue 1 with seven goals for his new club.

But he had another quiet game on Sunday as Monaco threw away a two-goal lead at lowly Sochaux.

"He's a champion," Ranieri said. "He has the experience to live through these moments. He'll quickly score again."

Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, 20, who put Monaco 2-0 up within 10 minutes, said that Falcao was frustrated by the refereeing during the match.

And former France international Olivier Rouyer, now a pundit with Canal+, believes that the former Atletico Madrid forward may not be fully accustomed to the French game yet.

"I felt he was a little less calm in the box and the box is his private domain." Rouyer told L'Equipe.

"He's been confronted by tighter defences, by teams that are well organised tactically, and he needs time to adapt maybe. But he has so much talent that he'll soon be successful again."

Monaco slipped two points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain in the table after Sochaux scored twice in the second-half to salvage a point.

But Ranieri was not too concerned after watching his side draw for the third time in a row on the road.

"It's not a problem," he told reporters. "Our problem is to improve match after match. To concentrate on corners and not to leave our opponents' space.

"I'm not angry. I said before the match that these type of things can happen when the leader plays a team near the bottom.

"We started well and then we lost our concentration. After our second goal we thought the game was won."

Monaco are still unbeaten after 10 matches and midfielder Ferreira Carrasco has vowed that they can win the league by learning from Sunday's experience.

"We want to be champions," the Belgium under-21 international said. "This match will serve as a lesson for us for future matches."

Managed by former Zambia coach Herve Renard for the first time, Sochaux moved off the bottom of the table with the point.
