Derby manager Steve McClaren wants to bring in the England under-21 international to strengthen his back line, sources have told ESPN.

Wisdom is keen to play more regularly, having made one Premier League start this season.

And Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is prepared to allow the 20-year-old out on loan to gain experience.

Wisdom made his Liverpool debut in the 5-3 Europa League win over Swiss side Young Boys in September 2012, and had a run of games in the first team at right-back last autumn.

He ended up making 21 starts for the club in all competitions last term, but only one of those came after the end of January.

The defender, who joined Liverpool as a 14-year-old from Bradford in 2008, is under contract at Anfield until 2018, having signed a new deal in January.
