Adil Rami has started training with AC Milan, even if he remains a Valencia player until January.
• Paul: Bid to re-focus
The two clubs have already struck an agreement for the transfer of the France defender, who rather than returning to Spain after passing his medical in Milan has instead been allowed to stay there and train with his future teammates.
“It’s a great feeling and I’m delighted to be here,” Rami told Milan Channel. “Milanello seems the best training ground in the world. I’d like to thank Valencia for giving me the opportunity to train with Milan in advance.
“During this time, I’ll be able to get to know my new teammates. I already know [Kevin] Constant and [Philippe] Mexes and their presence will help me to integrate in my new side quicker. I’ve already spoken to Robinho, [Ricardo] Kaka and [Nigel] De Jong. I speak Spanish and French and I’ll try to make myself understood by everybody, even if it won’t be easy.
“I’ve got a very strong character and I think I can help this team physically and increase the competition for places.”
That strong character effectively cost him his place in Valencia. He criticised his teammates and coach a month ago, resulting in his suspension from the first team and, ultimately, January’s transfer to the Rossoneri.
The 27-year-old will be eligible to make his debut in the Jan. 6 clash with Atalanta, by which time Rami should already feel at home in the Milan dressing room.
