City buoyed by early Aguero return

Manchester City have been boosted by the news that Sergio Aguero will return to England sooner than expected after Argentina released him.

Argentina coach Alex Sabella took the decision to allow the City striker, along with Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, to return to their respective clubs rather than keeping them in South America for the World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Wednesday.

Argentina have already qualified for next summer's tournament in Brazil and Aguero, 25, played the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 win over Peru that ensured they will finish top of the South American qualifying group.

Sabella's decision increases the chance that City manager Manuel Pellegrini will feel able to select Aguero for Saturday's match at West Ham.

He was only used as a substitute at Stoke in the match following the previous international break.

Midfielder Yaya Toure, another who faced a long journey, will also be back in Manchester before many of his teammates.

The Ivory Coast international helped his country to a 3-1 win in the first leg of their play-off against Senegal on Saturday, but the second leg is not until next month.
