AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri was furious at his players after they suffered a 3-0 friendly defeat to Caen at the weekend.

Taking advantage of the international break, Allegri arranged a friendly to test the hunger of those players who had been on the fringes of the first team, while giving an extra 90 minutes to those he hopes to be able to count on against Udinese on Saturday.
As opponents, Ligue 2 side Caen were chosen to give a presumably easy run-out and a much-needed win to a side that have picked up just eight points from seven Serie A games.
However, things did not quite go to plan. Beaten 3-0, Allegri was enraged by the performance of his team, especially those who he believed had been unhappy about their lack of opportunities so far this season.
“I’m not singling anybody out, but you can’t go asking the coach to play more often if then you go and play like this,” Allegri told Milan’s official website. “To play football, you need more than skill, you need effort too.
“This was anything but a good game. You need to take to the field always looking to obtain the best result, no matter what game it is.”
Allegri said he expects more effort from everybody as the Rossoneri search for only their third win of the season when they take on Udinese.
“We’re going to have to use our heads because it’s not a good period for us,” Allegri said. “Kaka and [Valter] Birsa will be available and maybe one of [Matias] Silvestre and [Mattia] De Sciglio too, we’ll have to see. It’s going to be a tough game against Udinese, who have quality players, but we’ve got to think about winning.”
