Adil Rami close to Milan loan move

Valencia outcast Adil Rami is close to escaping to AC Milan on loan, according to the La Liga club’s president Amadeo Salvo.

Adil Rami has been frozen out at Valencia.
Adil Rami has been frozen out at Valencia.

Rami, 27, has not played with the team or even trained with his colleagues since heavily criticising his teammates and coach Miroslav Djukic on September 24.

Following talks between his legal representatives and the club, the French international was suspended for a week without pay, and both sides agreed to try and work out a move elsewhere.

Napoli, Rubin Kazan and Zenit Saint Petersburg were all mentioned as possible destinations, but the most likely solution would now see Rami join Milan immediately, although he would not be free to make his debut until January’s transfer window opens. The deal with Valencia would also include an option for the Serie A side to make the move permanent next summer, for a fee of around seven million euros.

Speaking with Superdeporte the Los Che club chief did not mention Milan by name, but said he expected the move to happen soon.

“If everything goes well the loan will be done shortly,” Salvo said. “You cannot predict the timescale as it does not just depend on us. There are other factors, the player, and the other club. Everyone must accept the conditions.”

Nonetheless Valencia have reportedly already started assessing possible replacements to sign in January, with Marca claiming they would like to bring in Spain’s 2013 under-21 European Champion Alvaro Gonzalez from Real Zaragoza, but cannot afford to pay the Segunda Division side’s 2.5 million euros asking price.

A more affordable option could be US international Oguchi Onyewu, who is currently without a club after being released by Sporting Lisbon last summer, following a disappointing 2012-13 season spent on loan at Malaga. Onyewu, 31, featured rarely during his time at Malaga, but did play twice for Jurgen Klinsmann’s national team last summer.
