Alex Song focused on Barcelona future

Alex Song has admitted he is not thinking of a return to Arsenal and believes Neymar can help Barcelona achieve "great things in the future".

Song, 26, took time to establish himself at Arsenal after moving to North London from Bastia in 2005.

Despite gradually becoming a key part of Arsene Wenger's squad, playing 34 games in the 2011-12 season, he opted to move to Barca that summer and told RMC he currently has no thoughts of moving back.

"I don't know what will happen tomorrow. I spent seven fantastic seasons there, but honestly, I'm not asking myself that question for the moment," said the Cameroon international, who has largely been confined to the bench at the Camp Nou this season and featured in just 17 La Liga matches in 2012-13. "We'll take whatever comes. For the moment, I'm fully committed to Barca."

From his position among the substitutes, Song has been able to closely track the progress of the Catalan club's marquee summer signing, Neymar.

The Brazil international made a slow start to his career in Europe, but has contributed two goals and five assists in his last five La Liga appearances.

Song is convinced the combination of the former Santos man and Lionel Messi can help Barcelona return to the summit of the European game.

"When he arrived, he wasn't in great shape and the coach tried to look after him," Song said. "Now, he's slowly getting into condition. He's settling into the dressing room well. He's someone who loves life, likes working a lot, participates and really listens. No one can deny his talent. He shows it day in, day out.

"From match-to-match, he does better and better things. We're lucky to have a player of such quality. He's going to give us something extra. With players like him and Leo, who has been at the top of the game for the last five or six years, Barcelona is going to experience some great things in the future."
