Loic Remy praises Alan Pardew

Loic Remy has thanked Alan Pardew for his part in helping him secure a return to the French national team.

Loic Remy celebrates his opening goal for Newcastle against Cardiff.
Loic Remy has enjoyed a return to the international stage after performing for Newcastle.

Remy, 26, arrived at St James' Park this summer on loan from Queens Park Rangers, six months after turning down the Magpies in order to move to Loftus Road. Subsequently relegated, Remy was allowed to leave the club on loan and became the only first team addition on Tyneside this summer.

Making his Magpies debut in the 1-0 home win over Fulham, Remy has begun life at Newcastle in fine form, netting five goals in his first five games. That is despite the revelation that he is not yet fully fit.

Currently second in the Premier League’s scoring charts, his stellar form has now seen him return to the French national team fold under Didier Deschamps. With Deschamps believing Remy compliments his other strikers well, the former Marseille man has been keen to thank his manager for his help in securing a national team return.

"I have the opportunity to play in a great club where I can express myself fully. This can only benefit me," Remy told the Evening Chronicle. "I have worked very hard to get back to my best. Last winter, the coach already had spotted me, even though I chose to go to QPR. He trusted me again this summer."

With Newcastle understood to have a permanent option on Remy, the news comes amid confirmation from Harry Redknapp last week that the Frenchman does not figure in his plans. Referring to all players currently away from QPR on loan, Redknapp revealed he does not intend to reinstate those players into his squad at the end of the season.

As for Remy, he told Le10Sport this week that he is undecided on his future, as well as adding that he did not regret joining the R’s in January.

I regret nothing. I decided to join QPR in January. I was happy to see Newcastle back for me, and I now do my best for the club as they have tried to sign me twice," Remy was quoted as saying by Le10Sport. "Pardew? He is very close to me. He tells me a lot and helped me refocus on my game and it helped me a lot, especially in terms of adaption (to Newcastle). But for what will happen next, I do not know. For now, I have not decided on anything that happens after my loan period. I have time to make a choice."
