Pepe Reina eyeing Barcelona return

Pepe Reina has said it would be "great" to sign for Barcelona next summer when the Liga champions are expected to see goalkeeper Victor Valdes leave the club.

Napoli keeper Pepe Reina saves a penalty by AC Milan's Mario Balotelli.
Reina left Barcelona for Villarreal in 2002.

Valdes, 31, has indicated he will not be signing a new contract at the Camp Nou, with his current terms to expire at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Barca have subsequently been linked with a number of shot-stoppers, including Reina who is currently on loan from Liverpool at Napoli.

The Spaniard, who started his career at Barcelona, would be open to making a return, but for now is focused on his form for Napoli.

"It would be great to return to Barcelona," Reina is quoted by Sky Sports as telling Radio Catalunya.

"I am very happy that my name is being mentioned, but my goal right now is to put in a good season with Napoli.

"In the summer we will see. I imagine that they will have spoken to a lot of goalkeepers and will have short-listed a number of them.

"We will see what happens next year and we will see what happens with Victor Valdes."
