Valencia outcast Adil Rami hires lawyers

Adil Rami has hired lawyers as he looks to fight Valencia’s attempts to discipline him for criticising his teammates and coach Miroslav Djukic.

Adil Rami has been dropped by Valencia following a critical radio interview.
Napoli have reportedly turned down the chance to loan Adil Rami.

Valencia look to loam Rami

Rami has been not played with the team or even trained with his colleagues since he called many of them “two-faced” and also claimed Djukic had broken a promise to play him more often in a surprising outburst on Sept. 24.

Valencia would like to seriously punish Rami, but La Liga rules limit what they can do, and players’ union chief Luis Rubiales has met with Los Che president Amadeo Salvo to ensure no marks are over-stepped.

Rami himself obviously did not see this as sufficient protection, as evidenced by the statement released by his new legal team on Wednesday.

"Don Adil Rami, professional footballer of FC Valencia and of the French national team, opposes categorically the declarations of the Valencia directors against him, which have damaged his dignity and image as a professional footballer, who has always dedicated his body and soul to the club," the statement read.

"Given the situation inside the club, Don Adil Rami has taken on Don Alberto Brusa, a lawyer of the illustrious college of lawyers of Paris, to safeguard his interests and to find any possible solution with Valencia, with the aim of preserving his career as a professional footballer."

This development looks unlikely to smooth over the situation, with Valencia considering that it is Rami who has damaged their interests with his incendiary comments and refusal to apologise.

The club are therefore continuing their efforts to offload the former Lille player -- with Superdeporte reporting that Napoli have turned down an opportunity to take him on loan for the rest of the season during a meeting with Salvo in London on Tuesday. The newspaper claims Valencia were also hoping to take Argentina international centre-half Fede Fernandez on loan from Napoli as part of that possible deal.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s Europa League group game at Kuban Krasnodar, Djukic declined to discuss the situation further.

"I have not read [Rami’s statement]," he said. "I focus on what is important to me at this moment, which is the game against Kuban."

Although key men Jonas Goncalves and Ever Banega have been left out the squad that travelled to Russia for the game, Djukic maintained he was still taking the competition seriously.

"We cannot prioritise," he said. "The Europa League is as important as the Spanish league, but it is impossible for the players to play everything so rotations are necessary. We do not want players to get tired or injured. Swansea are now favourites in the group [after winning at Valencia in round one] but we must come back."
