Geoff Cameron denies Stoke rows

Geoff Cameron insists there is total harmony within the Stoke City dressing room and has branded suggestions of a rift between the players over former manager Tony Pulis as "hogwash."

Ryan Shawcross has denied reports he confronted Kenwyne Jones.

United States international Cameron has joined captain Ryan Shawcross in playing down suggestions that there had been angry exchanges between Mark Hughes' players regarding comments made about the style Pulis employed during his seven years in charge.

Club chairman Peter Coates has instructed Hughes to inform his players to stop discussing Pulis and to move on after newspaper reports that Shawcross was involved in an angry confrontation with Kenwyne Jones over critical comments made by the Trinidad and Tobago striker about the club's former manager.

Cameron insists squad unity has not been affected and remains determined to make amends for Sunday's 1-0 defeat against Norwich when they travel to Fulham this weekend.

"I don't think there is a rift at all. If anything, the team is more united than ever. The guys all have the same purpose and we know what we want to do and that's finish in the top 10 this year," Cameron said.

"Sunday was disappointing, but training has been sharp, enthusiastic and all the things you want building up to a game against Fulham.

"And I would say it's complete hogwash to say there is a rift in the locker room."

Cameron's comments were echoed by Shawcross himself on Tuesday night when he attended a meet-the-fans event at the Britannia Stadium.

Commenting on his alleged confrontation with Jones, Shawcross would only say: "I think it's just the papers making up stories to unsettle the camp. I can only say the spirit is good and there are no rifts.

"There's no rift, no problem. The size of Kenwyne, it would be just stupid of me to say anything."

Coates, who has banned his players from answering further questions about Pulis and his managerial regime, also played down talk of any trouble in the Stoke camp by saying: "I've been assured no such incident took place."

In explaining the ban, Coates said: "We do not think it is right for journalists to ask individual players for their views on a previous manager, particularly one who spent a long time at the club and did very well.

"It is not fair on Tony to be rubbished, or for Mark Hughes to have the past talked about."
